TAIPEI, August 5, 2024 — Allion Labs, Inc., an independent test lab authorized by Avnu Alliance, has successfully assisted Moxa Inc., an industrial communications and networking solutions provider, in achieving the world’s first Component Certification from Avnu Alliance for its TSN-G5000 Series Layer 2 switches. The Component Certification Program includes the IEEE 802.1AS and IEEE 802.1Qbv standards. This milestone underscores the company’s technical advancement in Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN)

Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) is a set of standards under the IEEE 802.1 working group. Developed by the IEEE 802.1 Audio Video Bridging (AVB) Task Group and introduced in 2005, TSN was initially used in the ProAV sector and expanded its applications to automotive and industrial domains in 2012. It is developed to ensure synchronization and low latency, which are crucial for time-critical applications.

The Avnu Alliance initially introduced a test plan to verify the interoperability of ABV/TSN devices. In June 2024, Avnu Alliance launched its new Component Certification Program, which includes timing and synchronization for time-sensitive applications (802.1AS), and enhancements for scheduled traffic (802.1Qbv). Allion is among the first wave of authorized test labs to perform certification testing for this program.

Since the Component Certification was in its early stages of development, Moxa and Allion have worked in close collaboration to identify and address issues. This joint effort has resulted in Moxa becoming the first-ever manufacturer to obtain Avnu Component Certification, and the achievement further solidifies the two companies’ commitment to striving excellence in quality.

The certification not only demonstrates the company’s capability in TSN technology but also ensures a reliable solution for various industries.

About Avnu Alliance

Avnu Alliance is a transformative force in the world of real-time networking. Established in 2009 by experts from diverse fields such as networking, IT, professional media, and automotive, our goal has been clear and consistent: to promote and facilitate the rapid, widespread, and open industry adoption of standards-based networking for time-sensitive, highly reliable applications.

Recognizing the constant evolution of Standard Ethernet, we closely followed the initiatives of the IEEE, which in 2012 created the Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) task group. This team built on the work of the Audio Video Bridging (AVB) task force, ushering in a new era of networking by launching the TSN standards. These standards significantly expanded the range, functionality, and application scope of Standard Ethernet.
