● Integrating DP2.1 test policy:

  • DP2.1 TX electrical test is not allowed to be tested by vendors, only ATC can run DP2.1 TX electrical test at this point, this policy is for all TBT products including TBT4/5 Host and TBT5 device.

USB

● USB Type-C/PD Interoperability

  • MacBook Pro 16-inch Apple M4 Max chip (36GB Memory – 1TB SSD – 140W USB-C Power Adapter) or MacBook Pro 16-inch M4 Pro chip (24GB Memory – 512 TB SSD – 140W USB-C Power Adapter)
    • Models support both USB4 80Gbps and 140W of EPR power
      • Required for USB4 Interoperability testing as soon as possible
      • Required for USB Type-C/PD Interoperability testing by USB-IF Compliance Workshop #138
  • MacBook Air M1 (Apple M1, 16GB RAM, 256GB Storage) still required for both USB4 and USB Type-C Interoperability testing

● USB Certification Platform

  • Hosts, hubs and peripherals must be certified using Windows 11 (64-bit OS).  USB-IF testing must be done on:

    • DELL XPS8960 (14th Generation Intel® Core® i7 Processor, 16 GB Memory)

      • Dell XPS 8950 12th Gen and Dell XPS 8940 11th Gen are viable alternatives – however email TechAdmin to confirm

USB4 Compliance Program

  • USB4 DisplayPort Tunneling Link Layer

    • Only 1 DP Tester required (Teledyne LeCroy Quantum Data M42DE or Unigraf UCD 500 Gen2)

● RFI Testing

  • Required for Gen 1 (5Gbps) and up capable End-Product USB Type-C hosts and peripherals

    • Applicability table in specification incorrect
    • Applicability currently under USB-IF internal discussion, peripherals may change to hubs
    • Only required for USB Type-C receptacle products

USB Type-C/ Power Delivery

● EU Removes References to IEC 62680 (USB) Specifications

  • Reverts to USB specification naming schema
    • The EU will no longer refer to the IEC standards naming in their new regulations and they are in the process of changing the references back to the original USB-IF specifications naming
    • The USB-IF will be updating its IEC Conformity Program naming to align with the EU updated references/naming
    • This also entails updating USB-IF’s conformity and certification notices to ensure they are consistent with the updated naming
      • Final naming will be USB-IF EU Conformity to USB Specifications (full name) and EU Conformity (website sub-heading)
  • The USB-IF plans to Implement EU Conformity QbS program in Q2’25

● SPR and EPR Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS)

  • USB PD CTS test equipment currently test SPR and EPR AVS capabilities
    • Test steps have been updated in newest USB PD CTS release
  • Will require additional testing using the QuadraMAX 2 test equipment in the future
    • Will use more precise voltage steps and test multiple ports at once

● USB Power Delivery Version Control

  • USB PD 3.2 v1.1 Silicon certifications eligible
  • USB PD 3.1 v1.8 to USB PD 3.2 v1.1 End-Product certifications eligible

● USB Type-C Liquid Corrosion Detection

  • Appendix A
    • Audio Adapter Accessory mode (Ra/Ra) – deprecated
      • USB Type-C Functional checks still applicable and required
    • Replaced by Liquid Corrosion Detection mode
  • Allows use of Ra/Ra for detection of potentially harmful liquid in the receptacle
