TAIPEI, October 24, 2022 — Allion Shenzhen is now authorized to perform Thunderbolt™ 3 & 4 Host Product Certification Testing. Having been authorized by Intel to perform Thunderbolt 3 & 4 Functional Validation (FV) Testing earlier this year, Allion Labs now offers Pre-Electrical Validation (Pre-EV) and Electrical Validation (EV) test services.
Thunderbolt technology is a high-speed connectivity solution created by Intel® and is a mainstream connection port for modern PCs. It has been integrated into the last three generations of Intel notebooks processors, capable of transmitting data and displaying high-quality images simultaneously with PCIe internal bus integration for external use. Thunderbolt 4 builds on the innovation of Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, provides a 40Gbps connection for data and video, and also provides up to 100W of power over a single connection. Thunderbolt 4 is the most comprehensive Thunderbolt specification to date and complies with the broadest set of industry-standard specifications, including USB4™, DisplayPort™, and PCI Express (PCIe®). It is backward compatible with prior generations of Thunderbolt and USB products.
Currently, Thunderbolt 3 & 4 come with strict test requirements, divided into two main parts:
- Functional Validation (FV) Tests
Testing consists of protocol, display, cable, USB, and other cross-validations. The extensive and complex tests ensure that Thunderbolt products fully support a wide variety of devices while simulating real user operation. - Electrical Validation (EV) Tests
EV Tests are particularly strict, consisting of high and low-speed electrical tests, electric transmission tests, and safety tests. The tests items are as follows:- 0 TX, 20G/20.6G/10G/10.3G Tests
- 0 RX, 20G/20.6G/10G/10.3G Tests
- Return Loss
- X TX Gen1/Gen2 Tests
- X RX Gen1/Gen2 Tests
- 0 Electrical Tests
- DP PHY (DP TX ALT Mode)
- USB4™ Thunderbolt™ 3 Compatibility CTS
* Thunderbolt Power Measurement - USB PD
If you have any testing needs for the abovementioned test items, please see Thunderbolt 3 & 4 FV and EV Tests.
Thunderbolt systems are getting more and more popular because Intel has integrated Thunderbolt technology into CPUs. As the test lab is officially accredited by Intel, Allion Shenzhen is ready to meet the ever-expanding need for Thunderbolt Host certification. We help you reduce customer complaints and shorten the product development time by offering timely technical support, debugging analysis, and various test solutions for other high-speed interfaces like USB, HDMI, and DisplayPort.
The fourth generation of Intel Thunderbolt integrates Thunderbolt technology into the CPU (SoC), making Thunderbolt systems popular and in turn creating detailed Thunderbolt Host certification requirements.
Allion Shenzhen now offers comprehensive certification services and solutions to solve the problems of manufacturers.
